Samsung Techwin(CEO: Lee Jung-Gu, www.samsungcamera.com) announced the launch of the new 5 Mega Pixel and 3x Zoom Digital Camera (Model: Digimax V50). With high performance and multiple functions to accelerate the entrance into the ultra high pixel digital camera market, the Digimax V50 enters into the full-scale growth stage.

With 5 Mega Pixel high definition CCD, the Digimax V50 is useful even in shooting manuscripts for printing requiring high definition as well as for general pictures. In addition, the Digimax V50 guarantees much clearer images than even the Schneider lens, which is known as the best lens in the world.

Moreover, the Digimax V50allows an additional 5x digital zoom function with 3x Optic Zoom (Focal length of 38? ~114? based on film camera) as a basic function for a total of 15x zoom. This zoom variation allows the Digimax V50 user to take a wide range of scenes over changing distances.

For moving pictures, the Digimax V50 supports MPEG-4 format, the high compression and high definition moving image file format, so that it is able to take pictures for 4 to 6 times longer than other digital cameras. With a 256MB memory card, users can take moving pictures for up to 60 minutes. This gives the Digimax V50the added capability of being used as a camcorder.

Next, the Digimax V50 takes up to 30 frames per second for images of VGA size (640×480). Then, moving pictures taken by the Digimax V50 can be played on general TVs without degradation of the image. The camera also allows photographs using wide-angle that are 2 times bigger than existing moving pictures on PCs.

The Digimax V50 can record voices along with moving pictures until the memory is full because there is no time limit for moving pictures. Furthermore, the Digimax V50achieves significant improvement for moving pictures including simple editing to select and save specific parts of moving pictures for playback.

A rotating TFT LCD is mounted on the Digimax V50. Most existing digital camera applied rotating LCDs are in 1.5~1.8 minute, whereas the Digimax V50 applied a large rotating TFT LCD (2.0? 120,000 pixel for the first time in digital camera). This large TFT LCD provides differentiated images, and the built-in LCD can rotate up to 270 degrees. Thus, users can take their pictures while still watching themselves, and they can easily take pictures of objects in higher or lower places.

The Digimax V50 uses 9 kinds of power supplies using the unique technology of Samsung Digital Camera. While Ni-MH rechargeable battery and exclusive Li-ion battery have short service hours, the Digimax V50 can instead use AA alkaline batteries that users can easily get in a market. These various types of power supplies eliminate the concerns about power supplies that are the most problematic in using digital cameras. Moreover, the exclusive 1400mAh Li-ion battery, with the highest capacity in the world, enables users to take 80 images equivalent to a service hour of about 140 minutes in succession. This feature provides unlimited ability for advanced users who need to take many of pictures at once.

The Digimax V50 also provides more enhanced manual photographing functions for advances users who want professional quality photography. Three kinds of manual exposure adjustment such as iris priority, shutter priority, and manual adjustment as well as the manual focus adjustment function allowing fine focusing are available. In particular, exposure can be more easily adjusted using a jog dial. Furthermore, the AE Lock function that used to be available only in high-end cameras enables users to configure a scene and set exposure as required.

Apart from the functions described above, users can attach wide-angle and telephoto lens (optional) to the Digimax V50 to get a wider variety of pictures. The wide-angle lens allows ultra close-up in order to secure a wider angle of view up to 28mm and in turn, reducing a 4cm close-up that is the basic specification of the Digimax V50to less than 1cm. The telephoto lens increases the basic optic 3x zoom up to 5.1x zoom, and when a digital zoom function is added, the scale factor goes up to 25x zoom. With those lenses, the Digimax V50 can be used for ultra close-up, wide-angle, and ultra telephotograph according to the users’ needs.

The elegant design of the Digimax V50 is made with high quality metal material that not only looks great but improves the product’s durability. The LCD (Blue Eye) on the front generates a light when the camera is in use, allowing a potential subject to recognize that a photograph is being taken. All those factors demonstrate that the designers of the Digimax V50considers very delicate parts.

The Digimax V50 provides a multi card slot to insert a Memory Stick Duo or Secure Digital Card/Multi Media Card. This slot delivers more flexibility to users who have only had the availability of one memory unit with most existing digital cameras. Moreover, a Copy-to-Card function enables users to copy a file from one card to the other card.

The PictBridge function of the Digimax V50 allows files taken by the camera to be directly printed without PCs, so users can immediately get clear 5 Mega pixel pictures by directly connecting the camera to a printer supporting the PictBridge function.

Besides the functions listed above, the Digimax V50 provides a variety of useful functions such as a My Set Shot Mode for snapshot, 9 kinds of various image shooting modes, voice recording for up to 2 hours, voice memo to record short voice messages onto pictures and one-touch playback to immediately see images taken even when the power is off. Additionally, the Digimax V50 provides a substantially quicker storage rate with USB 2.0 as compared to existing USB 1.1.

Furthermore, the Graphic User Interface of the Digimax V50 is improved to maximize the convenience and provide fast processing of menu operation for users. The menu setting window using True Color is easy to read and see and the menu setting can also be quickly configured using the Move & Set function.
