JOHN WILLIS

My Professional Career started when I was asked to Freelance for a weekly Motorcycle Magazine in the early seventies.

I'll always remember that first job - it was at Santa Pod in Northamptonshire . . . I was to shoot two rolls of 35mm Black & White film at the event and then deliver the film to their Fleet Street office in London by 6.00pm. Wow how things have changed with Digital.

A few years later, I went on to set up my own Colour Processing Lab and Studio in the small town of Dovercourt, in Essex.

A Licentiate of The Master Photographer's Association was awarded to me in the same year, after submitting a portfolio of my work.

I have been very privileged to have photographed some very important people in my career, such as The Princess Royal when she visited Harwich to open a new Operations Room for the Harwich Haven Authority and along with a few MP's and other celebs, it has been a career I will never forget.

I used Canon Cameras and Canon L lenses.

In August 2014, I decided it was time for me to retire from Professional Photography.

I still get a lot of enjoyment out of my photography (no pressure now LOL), and have now downsized the Pro gear to a Panasonic Lumix GX1 Camera with 14-42 and 45-200 lenses. These 2 lenses gives me superb results - without the weight of the heavy Canon 1D body and the 100-400 zoom around my neck . . .
