Hello and welcome to my photo website. I have been working as a seasonal field biologist since I was an undergraduate in Fish and Wildlife Management in the summer of 2001. This career has led me to work on a wide variety of wildlife projects for different employers ranging from state and federal agencies to university, non-government and non-profit organizations throughout the western U.S. and in Denmark. Most often, these projects involved collecting crucial field data on sensitive, threatened, or endangered species and included cutthroat trout restoration in Montana, lynx reintroduction in Colorado, and spotted owl tracking in Washington and Oregon, to name a few. At the same time that I started working with wildlife, I also began to teach myself photography. Photography has been very important to me not only for documenting different research projects, but also for bringing these elusive animals and their fragile habitats closer to the public eye. With the ever-increasing conflict between human and wildlife, habitat destruction, and other wildlife issues, I believe that public education is just as essential to preserving our natural resources as research and management. I hope that my photos can help to protect these wild animals and places by connecting people to something they have seldom seen or already care deeply about. If you would like to see some of my favorite photos of birds, wildlife, scenery, and Native American rock art, check out my “Best Photos” gallery. To see more of the places where I have lived and worked in the past few years, you can peruse the gallery of “My Travels.” If you, or anyone you know, are interested in buying prints or matted and framed photos, my price list will give you more information, or write me an email at pskolar@yahoo.com.
