DEar Clayton,
I have been researching Reunion information for Tempe Union High and have not been able to find current information on Peg Podlick. We went to Payne Training School together and Tempe Union High school. I researched her family and many photos of Peggy and her family appeared with your name and photo gallery affiliated with them. Would you be able to pass my contact information on to Peggy or a family member of hers so I might reconnect with them? Thank you Kathy Bell

I just viewed your Gambel's quail chicks gallery and not only are the photos so cute, but your captions are hilarious!! I was laughing so much - quail convention, triplets, proud dad, teens, all of them! But especially the Dad on guard one where the Dad totally looks like he's fiercely on guard! Great job injecting humor into looking at your photos! You seem like a fun person who views his backyard animals humorously like we do. They add so much humor and enjoyment to life, especially during baby season! Thanks for a real treat.

I am so thankful for your pictures of Afghanistan in the sixties. My parents lived there from1961-66.My father is an civil ingenieur and I was born there in 1963. As it happened I scanned all the 3500 pictures of my mum and digitilised them 2 years ago to print a fotobook.I cannot remember a lot of those days as I was to little but it gives me great pleasure to see this beautiful country with its peaceloving people. It is soo sad what happened there over the last 35 years with all the different intrudors and supppressors of all kinds. All the best to you and your family -kind regards Antje Luft -Germany

Thank you for all these wonderful photos. One of my favorite activities online is finding and viewing photos, particularly of landscape. I'm looking forward to a lot of eye-opening pleasure here. Very best to you from an amateur, Mavis

Wonderful photos. I spent most of my viewing time on Afghanistan. I used Google Images side-by-side on my laptop to travel between then and now. I wonder about the fate of the young Afghan women in the photo of students walking down the street. So full of promise in 1967. Thanks, I look forward to viewing more galleries in the future.

AISK in Kabul was a K-12 American public school open also to other ex-pats and Afghan-Americans.Total enrollment in the high school in 1975 was @ 100 students. The photo you have of the school shows the high school side; a similar building across the yard housed elementary classrooms, the art room , and in 1976, a library. A gym was also built on the grounds during that time.
One of the students you see is wearing the black and gold Kabul Scorpions sports uniform. They played other "local" American school teams in days-long tournaments throughout the school year. Flag football, soccer, basketball. (local = Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, New Delhi). AISK was just off Darulaman near the Noor Eye Clinic. N

Hej Clayton, I read your comment on protecting your work and I very much agree with your view. Of course I also became curious to see your work. Looking for instance at your shoots at Grand Canyon I can see why people have asked the permission to use your pictures. Nice shoots. Mats

Since I'm a lover of lightning, I thought that i might be in your guestbook. Your lightning shots are amazing and realy fascinate me more and more. Sadly in Kosova, where I live, we don't get that much of lightning effects from mother nature. that's why my lightning galery is small. It's interesting how in the past i was affraid of thunderstorms but now with my DRebel i'm more attracted to the movements and shapes it can create for a blink of an eye. Good job and continue shooting it...

Thank You for sharing your interesting slides from 1967 Afganistan. More people should post old pics. Many times they're more interesting than new ones. Please tell me what you did there... work as a Doctor I presume.

Hi Clayton, Your photographs are beautiful, but I was a bit disturbed seeing your stunned birds. As a conservation educator, I feel compelled to inform you that 963 million birds die each year from window kills and 6 million birds a day fall prey to cats. Those are alarming statistics. You can help our diminishing bird populations by simply stringing up cd's, feathers, shells, etc. on stings on your windows to break up the reflections. Window decals work great too. Cats that are not allowed outside greatly reduce bird kills. How many nuptial gifts ( dead animals left on your doorstep) do you get fom your cat? Just something to consider for the future of our birds.
Thanks

Guest 03-Nov-2004 18:38
Fantastic. Much better. I might even take a little more off the top and bottom, but that's a matter of personal preference.

Also, don't be afraid to use unusual shapes. The 2:3 aspect ratio is not law. (This advice should be taken w/ a grain of salt, though. Sometimes I get high praise for doing that, sometimes I get reamed. The life guys love it, the sports guys hate it, and the news guys just recrop my pictures anyway.)

Hope I don't come across as being to critical. I don't pretend to be a better photographer than you or anyone else. The advice I give is simply what I would do, maybe it's not the right thing for you to do.

Keep shooting, you've got a good eye.

I came across your pictures of Afghanistan quite by accident. What alot of memories. I lived there from 1961-1965 and moved into the new school (AISK) just before going home to Wyoming. My father was an avid photographer and we must have hundreds and hundreds of his slides of Kabul and environs. It would be nice to share them on the Web, but I don't know how. Anyway thanks, I felt like I was stepping right back into Kabul as a teenager.

I thoroughly enjoyed your galleries, especially of California, Alaska, Afghanistan and the space shots (very educational as well). Thanks also for your comments on my California gallery.

Really nice - the "Sleeping Seal" shot is my favorite - but not to be unfair to other great shots in your galleries. I recently returned from Arizona, and covered much of the same area you did - so that is of great interest to me.

Your Nasa collection is really nice as well.

Clayton, nice photos. I am inspired to purchase a digital camera and add to the collection. We drove the desert backroads from Laughlin, Nevada to Twentynine Palms and some stark, but beautiful sites. One being a volcano cone about 250' high last active 500 years ago. Keep the good work!
