Hello. I retired in 2003 and moved to California, near the American River. I have been an amateur photographer for many years. I now classify myself as a serious amateur. I shoot nature and wildlife, birds mostly, with a smattering of anything else that catches my eye. I also enjoy day hikes and like to combine that with photography to document the beauty in the landscape and wildlife along the American River and near by areas.
My equipment consists of a Canon 40D and a Canon 7D with two lenses, a Canon EF 100-400 4.5-5.6 USM IS and a Canon EF 28-135 F3.5-5.6 USM IS.
I use Photoshop CS3 to process my images and an Epson 2880 to print them. I use RAW mode exclusively. When preparing an image for the web I open the RAW image and adjust exposure if the highlights appear to be blownout, filter noise using Neat Image, crop, adjust levels, reduce the size, apply Photoshop's smart sharpen filter, and convert the color profile to sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
